What’s something most people don’t understand?

People think they are nice because they are friendly with people they can get something out of. Being fake nice to only people you can gain something from makes you fake, not nice.

On the flip side, being leery of people that have burned you in the past does not make you a mean person. Boundaries are essential for self preservation.

Being good and kind to people without expectations, being nice even if they can offer you nothing. That makes you a good person.
